In 2025, FOX is introducing a new category of suspension, designed to meet the demands of modern Sports Car enthusiasts. While this is a new suspension segment for the brand, FOX has a long history of Automotive & Track racing that has fueled the design of these products. Let’s take a look back on the history and development of this category.
Born in Race
In 1983, Tom Sneva crossed the finish line in first place at the Indy 500. Sneva was piloting his Texaco/Havoline car, equipped with a set of FOX Twin Clicker shocks. A modified Motorcycle shock, these shocks featuring adjustable compression and rebound damping. This design laid the framework for what automotive suspension would become: lightweight, durable, adjustable.

Moving into the 90’s and 2000s, FOX continued to innovate and race. Our designs were put to the test in new environments, from the deserts of Baja to the snowy plains of the Midwest and beyond. We continue to prove our products performance and durability in the most demanding environments. Each win fueled the innovation that led to the next victory.
2014, FOX took to the tracks once again; Circle Track racing. These oval-shaped circuits are hot spots of motorsports activity across America, providing for fast paced racing and rigorous trials of both man and machine. The development of the legendary FOX 2.0 RC1 & RC2 adjustable shocks have continued to be benchmarks for short travel shock performance. In the past decade, FOX has amassed over 5000 victories to date with no intent of slowing down.

In 2018, FOX FACTORY began its partnership with Road Atlanta. A world-renowned racetrack, hosting a variety of races, with challenging corners and fast paced straight aways, it has become an essential testing facility for FOX. With a dedicated engineering facility on the grounds, FOX’s ability to deliver precision tuned products has never been greater.

Sports Car Product Development
After generations of proving and racing products, FOX began developing a new breed of products to meet the needs of sports car performance seekers.
In 2019, FOX began development of what would become the Sports Car segment. Like with any shock development project at FOX, our approach is the same: an application specific design that delivers the best ride dynamics. In layman’s terms, a product offering that is designed and tuned to specifically for your vehicle. The first applications to break ground are the Chevrolet Corvette C7 and Dodge Charger & Challenger. If you don't own a Corvette or Charger/Challenger, don't worry, we have many more projects cooking right now. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

This category of vehicle brings a whole set of new challenges to the table for the FOX engineering team: limited space for shocks to articulate and sit, heat management, and weight balance. Where’s the fun without a good challenge!

Unlike our TRUCK spec suspension, Sports Car shocks lower your vehicle to ensure a lower center of gravity and better handling characteristics. With that, a new set of testing was required to ensure max travel was being achieved without the risk of wheel contact in the wheel well.

Taking learnings not just from our Truck products, but also from our Powersports product lines, we have created a unique product offering. The X2 adjusters found on the Factory race series products are inspired by the adjusters on ATV & UTV products.
Our team of Application and Design engineers worked through countless iterations of shocks. At the beginning, it looks very much like a “Frankenstein” shock with mismatched parts and welded on bits. But through the 1000s of hours the engineering team puts into the products, they arrive at a fully finished product.

With application specific designs, it's not a one size fits all. Each product is uniquely built and has 1000s of hours of development to stand on. Explore the entire series of Sports Car shocks on Ridefox.com today and see what series of shocks will be your next set.
